When refugees arrive in New Zealand they are accommodated at the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre (MRRC) for an orientation to prepare them for life in a new country.
During their orientation a Refugee Health Screening Service (RHSS) identifies and treats any personal health conditions that may affect a person’s resettlement.

National Public Health Service - Northern Region ceased being the RHSS provider on 30 June 2020.
